A gurdwara in the Babey Beri locality of Sialkot marking a place where Guru Nanak is remembered to have stayed, built by Natha Singh and photographed as early as about 1910. Damaged in the unrest around the Babri Masjid dispute, it was restored in the 2010s and reopened to Sikh pilgrims from India in November 2012.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
Guru Nanak is said to have rested here under a beri (jujube) tree, still standing, and to have met Hamza Ghaus, a Sufi saint of Sialkot.
