A hilltop pagoda at Kundahar east of Pokhara in Kaski District, founded in 1817 and dedicated to Bhadrakali as goddess of power and strength; it stands at about 2,930 feet over some 135 ropanies and is reached by stairways of 292 steps from the east and 265 from the south.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
The goddess is said to have told a priest to dig into the hill, where her image was uncovered and thereafter worshipped as Bhadrakali.
