History & significance

A goddess temple at Banapur in Khordha district, counted among the Shakta pithas of Odisha and reckoned to be about seven centuries old. Banapur was the seat of the Sailodbhava dynasty, and Buddhist images found in the town also connect the place with the Vajrayana tradition.
