The remains of a Gurjara-Pratihara temple complex at Pinjore in Panchkula district, built between the 8th and 12th centuries on a panchayatana plan of a main shrine ringed by four subsidiary ones, comparable to work at Khajuraho and Bhubaneswar. Its sculpture spans Shaiva, Vaishnava and Shakta subjects, and the site is now an open-air museum beside the 17th-century Yadavindra Gardens.
The Devi Mahatmya tells of Bhimadevi manifesting in colossal form in the western Himalaya near this place to protect the sages.
