Bhimpur, Rayagada district, Odisha · 19.1591°, 83.9178°
A Shiva shrine at Bhimpur village on the Mahendratanaya river in the western Mahendragiri hills of Rayagada district, which came to notice when the site was excavated in 1974. The linga stands within a quadrangular Shakti and carries a sculpted sacred thread.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
Citing the Linga Purana, local tradition holds this to be the jyotirlinga of the Dakini country, one of the twelve.
