A Shiva temple at Kumbhirgadi in the Bhograi block of Balasore district, whose black granite lingam measures twelve feet by fourteen with only half of it above ground and an octagonal middle section, and is claimed to be the largest in Asia. Maha Shivaratri is the main observance.
Ravana is said to have received the lingam from Shiva with a warning never to set it down, and to have planted it here in desperation while carrying it in the Pushpaka Vimana.
