History & significance

A hilltop shrine to Vishnu that gives the Biligiri Rangana Hills their name, set within a wildlife sanctuary declared in 1974 and made a tiger reserve in 2011. Its April festival draws pilgrims from across the region, and every second year the Soliga community presents the deity a hide slipper about one foot nine inches long.
