History & significance

One of India's largest Hanuman temples, founded by Pandit Gajanan Prasad inside the Ahmedabad cantonment and long associated with army personnel. A 2021 proposal by its trustees to move it to the Sabarmati riverfront was blocked after priests and devotees petitioned the Gujarat High Court.

Sthala katha — the legend

The Hanuman image enshrined here is held to be swayambhu, self-manifested rather than carved.
