History & significance

An early medieval Digambara Jain temple in Sawai Madhopur district, known in archaeological literature as the Alanpur Jain temple and protected by the Archaeological Survey of India. Its later worship grew up around an image of Adinatha found near the site.

Sthala katha — the legend

The name comes from chamatkar, miracle: the principal image is held to work wonders, and a fair is held here each Sharad Purnima.
