A 13th-century laterite Shiva temple at Ambika Sahi in the Old Town of Bhubaneswar, originally laid out as a panchayatana precinct with subsidiary shrines, one of which holds a broken four-armed image of Kartikeya.
The lingam is held to be patalaphuta, self-risen from the underworld, and the precinct is said to be the abode of the champa nagas, serpents that harm no one.
