A Shakti shrine at Basudevpur about 2 km north-east of Munger, counted among the Shakta pithas and long associated with Karna, king of Anga, who is said to have worshipped Chandi here daily. Pilgrims come to it particularly for relief from diseases of the eye.
When Shiva bore Sati's body across the world in grief, her left eye is said to have fallen at Munger, and the goddess is said to have given King Karna gold each day to distribute in charity.
