Chandragutti, Soraba taluk, Shivamogga district, Karnataka · 14.4313°, 74.9566°
An old cave shrine of the goddess Renuka set in the hills of Shivamogga district, roughly 19 km from both Soraba and Sirsi. It is one of the better-known Renuka centres of the Malnad-Uttara Kannada borderland.
Renuka is said to have been born from the sacrificial fire of a king of Chandragutti, and it was here that her husband Jamadagni had their son Parashurama behead her, only for Parashurama to use his boon to restore her to life.
