A monolithic shrine roughly twelve feet square cut into the rock face of Gwalior Fort in 875 CE by Alla, grandson of Nagabhata II, with reliefs of four-armed Vishnu and Varaha and subsidiary dedications to Shiva and the nine Durgas. Its dedicatory inscription carries the earliest known use of a circular symbol for zero, making the temple a landmark in the history of mathematics.
