History & significance

A Venkateswara temple on the bank of Osman Sagar at Chilkur in Ranga Reddy district, dated by the article to the 14th century. It keeps no hundi and accepts no money from devotees, fought successfully to stay outside government endowment control, and is popularly called Visa Balaji for the wishes pilgrims bring to it.
