One of Kerala's most visited goddess temples, where the same deity is worshipped in three aspects through the day: Saraswati in the morning, Lakshmi at noon and Durga in the evening. It has a long reputation as a place of healing for the mentally distressed.
A tribal named Kannappan who sacrificed buffaloes to the goddess found a divine calf embodying Vishnu and Lakshmi, and after his daughter's death was read as punishment for his cruelty, his altar became the sacred shrine.
