History & significance

A Durga temple atop the multicoloured granite hill of Churrio near Nagarparkar in Tharparkar district, Sindh. Thousands of pilgrims come through the year and about 200,000 at Shivratri, when devotees immerse cremation ashes in its sacred water; the hill itself is being cut away by government-licensed granite quarrying with dynamite.
