History & significance

A Jain temple at Deepangudi in Tiruvarur district with a three-tiered stucco-figured rajagopura, a vimana on an upapeeta and peeta, and front, artha and maha mandapas. The village takes its name from the presiding Tirthankara, and an inscription of Rajendra Chola II uncovered in 2009 records a donation by a Jain named Nandhian.
