A Shakta shrine on the Alaknanda at Kalyasaur between Srinagar and Pauri Garhwal, counted among the 108 Shakta pithas and revered as the guardian deity of Uttarakhand and of the Char Dham pilgrimage. No record survives of when the first temple was raised; the image was moved on 16 June 2013 for a hydroelectric project, hours before the floods that devastated the region.
Dhari Devi is said to have been the youngest of seven children, killed by her brothers on an astrologer's warning and thrown into the river, her upper half coming to rest at Kalyasaur and her lower half at Kalimath.
