One of the seven Sapta Badri shrines, standing in the Urgam valley close to Kalpeshwar on the banks of the Kalpa Ganga. Its image of Vishnu is a four-armed black-stone figure in a meditative posture, from which the shrine takes its name.
The shrine is credited to Urvarishi, son of King Puranjaya, who is said to have meditated in the Urgam region and founded it for Vishnu.
