History & significance

A Shiva temple at Koviladi, known as Sadaimudi in Appar's day and later as Tirupper Nagar, and listed among the Vaippu Sthalams. Its inscriptions record Chola-period administrative divisions and refer to Kochengat Cholan's capture of a Chera king at the site.
