History & significance

A Ganesha temple about 12 km from Coimbatore city on the Palakkad road, known for its very large stone image of Vinayagar and administered by the Tamil Nadu HR&CE department.

Sthala katha — the legend

Local tradition says the huge Vinayagar image was being carted from Madurai to the Perur Pateeswarar Temple when the cart's axle broke here, and the deity was installed on the spot.
