Gopeshwar, Chamoli district, Uttarakhand · 30.4138°, 79.3160°
An old Shiva temple at Gopeshwar in Garhwal whose courtyard holds a five-metre trident of eight metals dated to the 12th century and inscribed in the name of Ashokchalla; broken images scattered around it suggest several more shrines once stood on the site.
The trident is said to be the one Shiva hurled at Kamadeva, which struck the ground here and stuck fast, and is believed to quiver at a true devotee's touch though no force can shift it.
