The garden house at the far end of Puri's Grand Road that is the destination of the annual Rath Yatra, occupied by Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra for nine days each year. Empty the rest of the year, it is built of light-grey sandstone in the Kalinga deula manner.
The temple is named for Gundicha, queen of the legendary Indradyumna who built the main Jagannath temple; pleased with her devotion, Jagannath is said to have promised to visit her house once a year.
