History & significance

An east-facing Shiva temple on the bank of the Manali river at Kainoor in Thrissur district, counted among the 108 Shiva temples of Kerala. A large eastern gopuram was added in recent years; Maha Shivaratri in the month of Kumbham is its main festival.

Tradition credits the sage Parasurama with installing the deity here as one of the 108 Shiva shrines of Kerala.
