A Shakta temple at Sirsangi in Belagavi district, reputedly of great antiquity, whose village appears in records of 1148 and 1186 under the names Rishishringapura and Pirishingi. Ugadi, Halegodi Amavasya and Vishwakarma Mahotsava are its main festivals.
The sage Vrushya Shrunga is said to have performed penance here and been harassed by demons, whereupon the goddesses who drove them off settled at the spot, and the temple was raised for them.
