History & significance

An old Shiva temple next to Saidapet railway station in Chennai, laid out with two prakarams and a seven-tiered gopuram.

Sthala katha — the legend

The temple's origin story has Indra install a linga here and pray to Shiva to lift a curse from the divine cow Kamadhenu, receiving in return the title Gopathi, lord of cows.
