History & significance

A temple to the rural South Indian mother goddess Karumariamman that descends from an estate shrine serving Paduma Estate workers at Perai and was moved when Seberang Jaya township was laid out in the 1970s. The present RM2.3 million building was started in 1996, with the works minister S. Samy Vellu laying its foundation stone on 16 February 1997.
