History & significance

The mother-goddess temple of George Town's Tamil quarter, begun as a shrine on land granted in 1801 and built up into a temple by 1833. It has been reconsecrated five times between 1933 and 2016, taking the honorific Arulmigu at the 1980 kumbabishekam.
