A tenth-century goddess shrine on the 1,575-foot Kolhua hill in Chatra district, revered as a Shakta pitha. The hill is unusual for carrying Hindu, Jain and Buddhist associations together, including a footprint attributed to the Jain tirthankara Parshvanatha and a Jain temple built in 1682, destroyed and later rebuilt.
Devotees hold that the womb of Sati fell on this hill, and that the Pandavas, and later Rama with Sita and Lakshmana, sheltered here during their forest exiles.
