One of the eight Astasambhu Shiva shrines of Bhubaneswar, standing about forty metres south of the Mukteswar temple within the Kedara-Gouri complex. Its pancharatha plan pairs a rekha vimana with a pidha jagamohana, and the sanctum floor sits below the present ground level.
Local telling holds that the lovers Kedar and Gouri fled their village, that Kedar was killed by a tiger and Gouri drowned herself in the pond here, and that the king raised the temple in their memory.
