A Shiva temple at Ketakibari near Tezpur said to hold one of the largest Shiva lingams anywhere. The site falls into two parts, the lingam where it now stands and its original base a little away.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
An earthquake is said to have torn the lingam from its base and set it down where it rests today.
