History & significance

A Shiva temple on the bank of Khidkali Lake near Dombivli in Thane district, whose present structure was probably rebuilt in the seventeenth century. The complex also holds images of Ganesha and Hanuman, with smaller Dattatreya and Hanuman shrines nearby.

Sthala katha — the legend

Local tradition holds that the Pandavas raised the shrine during their forest exile, when Yudhishthira wished to worship Shiva at the spot.
