The only temple in Tamil Nadu with Saraswati as its presiding deity, at Koothanur in Tiruvarur district; shrines to her are rare anywhere in India. The medieval Tamil poets Ottakoothar and Kambar sang of it, and Vijayadasami is its chief festival.
