A Shiva temple at Cheruthazham in Kannur district where the deity is worshipped in three aspects across the day - Dakshinamurti in the morning, Kiratamurti at noon and Umamaheshwara in the evening; the sanctum was raised by about six Brahmin families and the temple was restored from long neglect from the 1980s.
Legend holds that Hanuman, sent by Rama to install a lingam at Rameswaram, set down part of it here and so reached Rameswaram late.
