A Shaiva temple near Batlagundu in Dindigul district, roughly five centuries old, modelled on the Visalakshi-Viswanathar shrine at Varanasi and distinctive for its south-facing sanctum of the goddess. It is linked to Sacchidananda Bharati I, the 25th acharya of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham, who was born nearby and whose birthday is kept here each year; consecrations were held in 2001 and 2013.
Local tradition holds that the image was carried here from Kasi by a devotee.
