History & significance

A 26-metre pancharatha temple in Bhubaneswar formerly known as the Kainchi temple, originally a Shiva shrine; the structure is now dilapidated, with water damage and plant growth pushing at the masonry.

Sthala katha — the legend

Local tradition holds that the deity was carried away from Ravana's Lanka to Ekamra Kshetra when Svarna Lanka was destroyed before the war with Rama.
