A Hanuman shrine near Jangareddygudem in West Godavari district where the deity is held to be self-manifest in a sacred tree rather than housed in a conventional sanctum, so no arch surrounds it.
The temple's tradition tells of a demon named Madhvasura who, reborn across ages as a devotee, was saved from a lake by a monkey he recognised as Hanuman, and asked to be reborn as the tree in which the god would remain forever present.
