History & significance A Theravada temple at Bagan raised in the early 13th century under King Htilominlo as a copy of the Mahabodhi Temple at Bodh Gaya; over 450 Buddha images fill the niches of its tall pyramidal tower, which was repaired after the 1975 Bagan earthquake.
