The principal shrine of the Mahasu Devta cult of the Jaunsar-Bawar hills, standing on the Tons river at Hanol. Its sanctum is dated to the 9th-10th century and the temple is listed in the Archaeological Survey of India's inventory of ancient temples.
Local tradition holds that four brother deities came from Kashmir and that Shiva slew the demon Kirmira here to protect his devotees, the site being built by Vishwakarma at Yudhishthira's request.
