A hill shrine in Kollam district, rare in being dedicated to Duryodhana of the Mahabharata and in having neither an idol nor a sanctum, worship instead being offered through sankalpam. It is run by a committee drawn from seven territorial divisions.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
Duryodhana, searching for the exiled Pandavas, is said to have been given toddy on this hill by an elderly Kurava woman, and, moved by the place and its people, to have worshipped Shiva there and endowed the shrine with farmland.
