A Bhadrakali temple at Malayalappuzha in Pathanamthitta district whose 5.5-foot image is made in katu-sarkara-yogam and shows the goddess in her fierce form; the sanctum holds three images, used respectively for worship, abhisheka and sreebali. Its consecration is credited to the Aikireth and Eravimangalath Namboothiri families, and its eleven-day festival opens on Thiruvathira in Kumbham.
Two Namboothiri pilgrims are said to have been directed by Bhadrakali herself to enshrine her at Malayalappuzha as the most auspicious place.
