Mammiyur, Guruvayur, Thrissur district, Kerala · 10.5991°, 76.0361°
One of the 108 Shiva temples of Kerala and the principal of five Shiva shrines around Guruvayur; custom holds that a visit to the Guruvayur temple is incomplete without also visiting Mammiyoor. It is run by the Malabar Devaswom Board and open only to Hindus.
Brihaspati and Vayu are said to have found Shiva in penance at the rudratheertha here; Shiva moved aside to make room for the Vishnu idol once worshipped by Krishna, and the place came to be called Mahimayur, later Mammiyoor.
