A goddess temple at Pallippad in Karthikappalli taluk, administered through four NSS Karayogams. Kunjekutty Pilla, known as Valyachan and an army chief under Dharma Raja Karthika Thirunal Rama Varma of Travancore, is remembered as its foremost devotee.
The idol is said to have been found when a farming woman struck a stone with her curved knife and it bled, centuries after the local shrines burned in the fire Arjuna set to the Khandava forest at Krishna's bidding.
