Rawatpara, Agra, Uttar Pradesh · 27.1837°, 78.0175°
Reckoned among the oldest temples in Agra, this Shiva shrine near Agra Fort railway station is reached by descending a flight of steps to a sunken sanctum holding a silver-clad lingam. Smaller shrines behind it are given to Ganga, Saraswati, Hanuman, Krishna and Rama among others.
Tradition holds that Shiva himself established the lingam here in the Dvapara Yuga, at the time Krishna was born in Mathura.
