A Shiva temple standing on the bank of the Markandeshwar tank north of the Jagannath temple at Puri. Both shrine and tank are dated to the 12th century and the tank counts among the sacred water bodies of the Puri pilgrimage.
The sage Markandeya is said to have meditated on Shiva here, and to have seen an infant afloat on a banyan leaf upon the waters, a vision Vishnu explained to him.
