A goddess temple near Colachel on the Kanyakumari coast, so heavily attended by women pilgrims that it is called the women's Sabarimala; its Maasi Kodai festival is the chief annual event. It is noticed in nineteenth-century writing including the Aithiga Mala of 1889 and in district gazetteers.
