A Shiva temple at Daranagar in Varanasi whose present building dates to the 18th century, though the smaller shrines it contains are held to be far older. It is the principal place in the city for the recitation of the Mrityunjaya mantra, and its compound holds a celebrated well.
Dhanvantari, the physician of the gods, is said to have emptied all his medicines into the temple well, so that its water heals illness and guards devotees against untimely death.
