A Hanuman temple in Namakkal town whose eighteen-foot standing image is traditionally held to have stood here since the 5th century. The shrine faces the Narasimhaswamy temple across the Namakkal rock, and the two are worshipped as a pair.
The temple's legend tells that Hanuman was carrying a saligrama for Lakshmi's penance when it grew into a hill at this spot, and Narasimha appeared and made it his abode.
