A sandstone Khmer prang on a laterite base outside Sakon Nakhon town, carved with a lintel showing Krishna slaying a lion in Baphuon-period style. It is the principal Khmer Hindu monument surviving in the province.
What follows is the temple’s own traditional account, transmitted through liturgy and local memory. It is recorded here as tradition, not as attested history.
Local tradition holds that the sanctuary was raised entirely by women, in a building contest against the men who put up Phra That Phu Pek.
