Established in 1830 in Naulakha village, roughly thirteen kilometres from Sirhind, to commemorate a visit by Guru Tegh Bahadur and Mata Gujri.

Lakhi Shah Wanjara, having lost an ox, is said to have vowed an offering to Guru Tegh Bahadur; when the animal returned he gave nine takas, which the Guru declared equal to nine lakh, and told the villagers to call the place Naulakha.
